How it works · Content & translation · Shopify
How we translate 400+ products into 12 languages, and keep them current every night.
ETQ Amsterdam sells in 12 languages. Every night Optivate looks at what's new or changed in the store, translates it in ETQ's own voice and gets it ready. A person approves, then it's live. Here's how that works, step by step.

01 · How it works
From a new product to live in 12 languages.
Optivate does the work overnight. You check and approve.
- 01
Checked every night
Optivate looks in Shopify for what's new, what changed and which translations are outdated as a result.
- 02
Translated in the brand voice
With the brand profile and the language rules for each language. Text used on many products is translated once.
- 03
Checked
Source next to translation, field by field. The system flags what needs attention, like a term that looks untranslated.
- 04
You approve, Optivate publishes
Per product or a whole language in bulk. Then Optivate pushes it to Shopify, metafields included.
02 · Every night
What's new, what changed, what's behind?
Every night Optivate checks the store. New products, changed source texts and new fields are ready in the morning, with the languages that need redoing.
Outdated translations stand out too. If the source was enriched and a translation fell behind, the system spots it. For example because the translation is suddenly much shorter than the source.
Texts that recur on many products, like a material description, are translated once. Then they're right everywhere, in all 12 languages. A change to the source follows automatically.
03 · Brand voice and language rules
The brand voice captured once. Every correction becomes a rule.
It starts with a brand profile. At ETQ the tone is minimalist, premium and timeless. You choose short or longer sentences, and set which words stay untranslated, at ETQ including the collection names. With AI you get through this fairly quickly.
Then we had native speakers proofread every language. Their corrections became language rules, and those go into every new translation. What reviewers approve goes into the translation memory. So the same correction never has to be made twice.
That way one system covers the whole store: products, collections, pages, blogs, menus, theme copy and FAQ, with SEO title and meta description per language.
04 · Who does what
You approve. Optivate does the translating.
There's some manual work at the start: your brand profile and the first complete translation. We help you with that. After that it goes product by product, as they're added or changed.
What you do
- Set up your brand profile once: tone, sentence length and words you don't translate. We help you with that.
- Exclude what shouldn't be translated, such as collection names.
- Check and approve, per product or a whole language in bulk.
What Optivate does
- See every night what's new, changed or outdated.
- Translate in your brand voice, with the language rules for each language.
- Translate shared texts once and apply them everywhere.
- Write the copy for new products from your supplier's file.
- Publish to Shopify after your approval.
05 · The result
30 seconds per product instead of 15 minutes.
For 400+ products in 12 languages, that's from ~100 to ~3 hours per catalog. Those hours go into checking and approving. No translation agency and no freelancers; AI costs are part of the monthly price.
It works the same way at TOV Essentials. There, Denmark brought in over €1 million in revenue within the first year after Optivate took over the translations.
